Through the continued delivery of our TANF grant funded career promotion, Iroquois Healthcare Association has partnered with Career Communications, Inc. to bring an innovative, health care curriculum to middle and high school teachers. Endorsed by the NYS Education Department and tailored to meet the stringent NYS Learning Standards, the fully developed curriculum involves students in hands-on case studies. Going beyond the traditional roles of nurses and doctors, the curriculum enables teachers to bring students into the world of health care and facilitates exploration of personality traits, education, job requirements, and salaries for a variety of careers. Educators receive workbooks and classroom promotional items customized with the Health Care: Get Into It! logo and website address for each student.
Here are a few comments attendees have made about the seminars:

"A worthwhile afternoon. I can take back some very usable info to my schools and kids. Thanks!!"
"This is a well researched program. The need is real and students will benefit from exploration- the health care crisis and shortage of workers is not necessarily evident to them, yet!"
"This program fits in with career exploration and can help guide interests in the health field."
"It helps us see why a program like this is so helpful. Nice work!!!"
"Well organized, great info, practical."
"A+! What a worthwhile endeavor and you are all so professional. I will incorporate much of the material as homework, class activities and lab work."
"Good hand-outs and usable things. Include the FACS standards as about 1/2 of the attendees teach the subject."
"It challenges students to use their brains. It's relevant to their career choices."
